Drained where it stands **Short answer** If the engine has not run, fuel doctor in Southam is usually a clean drain with no lasting harm. Keep it that way — don't start it — and ring 01295 380724. The call-out is £89, the drainer brings everything, and most jobs are done in 45 to 90 minutes. A fuel doctor is simply a mobile drainer: they come out, confirm what went in, drain it and get the engine running again. Then it is drain, flush, refuel and start. At home or at work they can do the whole thing on the drive or in the car park without moving it at all. ## Five things to ask a drainer before they set off A drainer should be happy to answer all of these on the phone. If they will not give a price before travelling, ring someone else. - How long until you reach me in Southam? - Do you bring clean fuel, and is it included? - Is there an extra charge at night or at the weekend? - Is the vehicle over 3.5 tonnes, and does that change the price? - What is the total, not just the call-out, if it is a straight drain? ## What to do right now - Don't press the start button or turn the key. - Take a photo of the pump display: it shows the fuel type and the litres. - Ring 01295 380724 and describe where the car is. - Agree the price before booking — the call-out starts at £89. - The drainer empties the tank and flushes the system where the car stands. - They refuel, start the engine and check it before handing back the keys. Across recent reviews, the themes customers raise most often are staff who stay polite, professional and reassuring during what is a stressful situation, and how quickly a technician arrives and gets the vehicle back on the road in Southam. The most common criticism is price. Some customers have felt the cost of an emergency drain was steep for a job that takes under two hours, and that is fair comment on an emergency call-out. It is why the misfuel call-out fee now starts at just £89 and why the full figure is quoted on the phone before a technician sets off — so nothing about the cost is a surprise at the roadside. ## Common questions **Do I need to move the car off the forecourt?** Only if it is blocking a pump. Push it into a bay with help and the engine off; the drainer can work there. **Is the drain messy?** No. The fuel is pumped into a sealed tank on the van, and a drip tray catches anything from the connection. The area is left as it was. **Will the car need a service afterwards?** Not after a straight drain. If the engine ran on the wrong fuel, the drainer will tell you whether the filter should be changed. **Does insurance cover fuel doctor?** Many policies exclude misfuelling. Some breakdown cover and optional add-ons include it. Check your policy wording before assuming either way. **The engine is running rough — is that the wrong fuel?** If it started shortly after filling up, very likely. Pull over when it is safe, switch off and call 01295 380724. **How quickly can a drainer reach me in Southam?** Usually the same day and often within a couple of hours. The operator gives you an arrival window on 01295 380724 before you agree. ### Who you are dealing with Wrong Fuel Drain is a brand of [Fuel Fixer Ltd](https://www.fuelfixer.co.uk/) (company number 08520551), a company of Fuel Fixer International, the multinational group behind this website.
