--- title: Petrol in diesel in Sighthill Edinburgh: local drainer from. url: https://wrongfueldrain.com/petrol-in-diesel/sighthill-edinburgh/ focus: petrol in a diesel car sighthill edinburgh phone: 01295 380724 updated: 2026-10-06 --- # Local drainer for petrol in diesel in Sighthill Edinburgh **Short answer** Stop, switch nothing on, and call 01295 380724. Local drainers across Sighthill Edinburgh handle petrol in a diesel car every week: tank out, lines flushed, clean fuel in, all where the vehicle is parked. Expect 45 to 90 minutes on site and a call-out from £89, with the full price given before they leave for you. Diesel lubricates the high-pressure pump as it passes through; petrol does the opposite and washes that film away, so the pump starts wearing within minutes of running. A full tank of the wrong fuel takes longer to pump than a few litres, so the drainer will tell you roughly how long it will be once they see the gauge. After that it is a flush, a refuel and a test run before they leave. ## Questions worth asking before you book a drain in Sighthill Edinburgh None of these are awkward questions. Any drainer worth calling will answer them before setting off. - How long until you reach me in Sighthill Edinburgh? - Will you dispose of the contaminated fuel, and can I have a note of it? - Is there an extra charge at night or at the weekend? - Will you check the filter and pump if the engine ran? - Do you bring clean fuel, and is it included? ## What to do right now - Keep the engine off and put the keys somewhere you will not absent-mindedly use them. - Move the car only by pushing, with help, and only if it is blocking a pump. - Phone 01295 380724 and describe what happened. - Confirm the quote — call-out from £89 — and the arrival window. - The drainer empties the tank into a sealed container and flushes through. - After a refuel and a test run, the waste fuel leaves with the drainer for licensed disposal. Across recent reviews, the themes customers raise most often are staff who stay polite, professional and reassuring during what is a stressful situation, and how quickly a technician arrives and gets the vehicle back on the road in Sighthill Edinburgh. The most common criticism is price. Some customers have felt the cost of an emergency drain was steep for a job that takes under two hours, and that is fair comment on an emergency call-out. It is why the misfuel call-out fee now starts at just £89 and why the full figure is quoted on the phone before a technician sets off — so nothing about the cost is a surprise at the roadside. ## Common questions **Can you drain a hire car or a company car?** Yes. Tell the hire company or fleet manager too; many prefer a drain on site to a recovery. **I only put a little in — do I still need a drain?** In most modern diesels, yes. Even a small amount of petrol reduces the lubrication the pump depends on. A drain is cheap compared with a pump. **What happens to the fuel you take out?** It goes into a sealed tank on the drainer's van and is taken for licensed disposal and recycling. It is never tipped away. **Do you cover all of Sighthill Edinburgh?** Yes — forecourts, roadsides, homes and workplaces across Sighthill Edinburgh and the surrounding area. **Can I pay by card?** Yes. Card payment is taken on site once the job is done. **How long does a drain take in Sighthill Edinburgh?** Usually 45 to 90 minutes on site once the drainer arrives. Longer if the engine was started, because the filter and lines need flushing as well as the tank. ### Who you are dealing with Wrong Fuel Drain is a brand of [Fuel Fixer Ltd](https://www.fuelfixer.co.uk/) (company number 08520551), a company of Fuel Fixer International, the multinational group behind this website.
