Then the tank is emptied into a sealed container, the fuel lines and filter are flushed where needed, clean fuel is added and the vehicle is started and checked before they sign it off. ## Five things to ask a drainer before they set off None of these are awkward questions. Any drainer worth calling will answer them before setting off. - How much more if the engine has already been started? - What is the total, not just the call-out, if it is a straight drain? - Can you work on the forecourt, or does the car need to be moved? - Is the vehicle over 3.5 tonnes, and does that change the price? - Will you dispose of the contaminated fuel, and can I have a note of it? ## What to do right now - Don't turn the key. - Check what went in: the receipt and the pump number tell you the fuel and the litres. - Call 01295 380724 with those details and your location. - Get a price that covers the whole job, then book. - The drainer arrives, drains the tank, flushes the lines and filter if needed. - You get clean fuel, a running engine and a note of what was removed. Across recent reviews, the themes customers raise most often are staff who stay polite, professional and reassuring during what is a stressful situation, and how quickly a technician arrives and gets the vehicle back on the road in Oakgrove Milton Keynes. The most common criticism is price. Some customers have felt the cost of an emergency drain was steep for a job that takes under two hours, and that is fair comment on an emergency call-out. It is why the misfuel call-out fee now starts at just £89 and why the full figure is quoted on the phone before a technician sets off — so nothing about the cost is a surprise at the roadside. ## Common questions **Do I need to move the car off the forecourt?** Only if it is blocking a pump. Push it into a bay with help and the engine off; the drainer can work there. **Does insurance cover wrong fuel rescue?** Many policies exclude misfuelling. Some breakdown cover and optional add-ons include it. Check your policy wording before assuming either way. **Can you drain a van or a lorry?** Vans, yes, routinely. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are quoted separately because of the volume involved. **Will my engine be damaged?** Not if it has not been started. The wrong fuel sitting in the tank touches nothing that a drain cannot clear. Damage starts once it circulates. **How quickly can a drainer reach me in Oakgrove Milton Keynes?** Usually the same day and often within a couple of hours. The operator gives you an arrival window on 01295 380724 before you agree. **What if I have already driven home?** Leave it on the drive with the engine off and call 01295 380724. The drainer can do the whole job at your house. ### Who you are dealing with Wrong Fuel Drain is a brand of [Fuel Fixer Ltd](https://www.fuelfixer.co.uk/) (company number 08520551), a company of Fuel Fixer International, the multinational group behind this website.
